Los artistas trabajan sin cobrar
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/em>\u00daltimamente, es habitual\u00a0 pedir a los artistas que trabajen gratis. Pr\u00e1cticas similares ocurren cuando hay una oferta alta sin apenas demanda y cuando los trabajadores no tienen elecci\u00f3n<\/em>. \u201cA los Artistas se les pide que trabajen gratis\u201d . Esto no es propiamente un\u00a0trabajo de voluntariado, ya que\u00a0un tercero obtiene beneficio. Tampoco es un concurso\u00a0 ya que no hay premio en met\u00e1lico.<\/em> Esta pr\u00e1ctica implica una competici\u00f3n feroz entre los artistas y una frustraci\u00f3n constante: <\/strong>el burro sigue recto pero no hay zanahoria. <\/em>Un ejemplo: Me lleg\u00f3 a mi e-mail, una convocatoria llamada: “Exchange Radical Moments”. Primero mand\u00e9 un e-mail a la direcci\u00f3n de la convocatoria y despu\u00e9s a la Uni\u00f3n Europea cuyo logo aparec\u00eda en el anuncio. <\/em><\/p>\n

It is now a common practice to ask artist to work for free.\u00a0 Similar practices take place in situations\u00a0in which there is high offer and low demand and when workers have no choice. Often \u201cArtist asked to work for free\u201d is not volunteering work, because\u00a0 a third party get profit; it is not a competition because there is no cash price offered. <\/strong>This practice involves ferocious competition among artists and constant frustration.\u00a0 The donkey is moving but there is no carrot in front. Here an example: ‘Exchange Radical Moments’ A festival.\u00a0 I got an open call in my e-mail box.\u00a0 I followed up, first replying to the e-mail and after contacting the European Union which logo was placed in the call.

Because it\u00b4s a great moment in this picture, the frozen moment in the movement of the girl (she was actually playing tag with other children…<\/p>\n

the man in the background and the tower crane … the whole scenery shows somehow Europe facing history an past.<\/p>\n

Dear Person: recently I got an “open call” to EXCHANGE RADICAL MOMENTS. I am writing to you because your logo was in the blog and in the add. This open call appears to me exploitative to the artists’s rights and disrespectful in its use of images loaded with historical implications.<\/p>\n

I am attaching conversation by e-mail.
\nI am asking you to review the practices around this open call.<\/p>\n
